The diagnosis C. Lipoma Lipoma is a common mesenchymal soft-tissue benign tumor. In the head-and-neck region, the posterior neck is the more prevalent location. Lipomas are relatively uncommon in the oral and maxillofacial region, especially on gingival tissue. In the oral cavity the buccal mucosa, floor of the mouth, tongue, and lips are the most affected sites. Oral lipomas usually appear as an asymptomatic, painless, slow-growing, and well-circumscribed nodule, with a soft consistency and a surface mucosal color that varies from normal to yellowish. Previous studies found no sex predilection, although some authors have indicated a predilection of oral lipomas for male patients. Oral lipomas are more commonly diagnosed in patients in the fifth and sixth decades of life.
